Desert Games Here and Gone

What a weekend! So many great athletes and great people to share the experience with. I loved watching everyone compete. Every single one of our athletes upheld our prestigious name to its standard and performed admirably and honorably and I am so very proud of each and every one of you… and having Josh Savage come into the mix was truly a great treat to have him in our group. Also, a huuuuge thank you to everyone that came out to show their support to our athletes and supported our gym. It was so cool to turn around and see all of you guys at the event. That is the definition of more than being a community, as our world proudly defines us as, but that is more what a family is in my opinion. To be a great family is going waaaay beyond that. Thank you to everyone that took time out of your so well deserved and longed-for weekend and come make your presence known. To the athletes that competing… I’m chuckling to myself writing this because you all are getting so good. Take yourself back to when you first stepped foot into our doors for your first workout. Whether you found this on your own and had an Intro with your dear ‘ol coach, or a friend brought you in…. where you are now is a totally new individual. As the skeletal system goes through a completely new structure every ten years, (the osteoclasts that break it down and the osteoblasts that rebuild new bone your skeletal system is not the same you had a decade ago) you too, are a different, older, wiser, and better version of who you are becoming. For a prospective sense I am what they call a ten year CrossFitter, for some of you this was your very first CrossFit competition, and there is so much more progress to be seen down this road for each of you. That is the cool part. You only get better from here… in however shape, form, or fashion you want to view that. You will adapt, and grow, and grow into a person you didn’t know. For those of you that have children… think of the time before and I guarantee you can answer that having children has changed you. I have had numerous jobs and certain situations through my life, and at the end of it all, not one time in retrospect I can say that it didn’t change me. That is life. It is every growing and every changing, and that is the beauty of it. I heard Ben Bergeron say that one of his greatest fears is that he fears that he will be the same person 5 years from now… now that he is unhappy now, but that he constantly wants to be growing and changing in his business, as a coach, and as a person. I couldn’t agree with that more. So let’s get back to the grind and continue to chip away at that clay mold of ourselves that is forming into that self-reflecting image of who we want to be and who we are becoming, and forms shape from that fine attention to detail after the foundation has been laid.

The Nutrition Challenge starts this week. I will have all the details about it this week, hopefully tomorrow!
