A great sadness is sometimes so close to a great gratitude. Josie was part of our gym family since the early days. The first member to show up for Mobility Thursday’s and a true steward of discipline. Josie past away Friday night in a car accident. Her kind heart, infectious smile and laugh, and her bow tattoos with be missed. I am thankful for the moments and time we had her…. And my life is fuller because of it. With all our love in our hearts we thank you, we will miss you, and we pray you rest in pease. What a LEGEND.

💜 Josie.
When Andres asked me to write a little something, I didn’t hesitate. I want to talk about Josie. I could fill pages and pages about her. She’s the best. I love and already miss her so much.
Our gym, is the best gym. I’m bias. But I’m right. Our gym has a Josie. I don’t say this in arrogance, I want every gym to have someone like Josie. I suspect many do, just not our Josie.
If you didn’t get to know Josie, I’ll try and describe her to you.
She would quietly, with such humility, absolutely smoke the workouts. She would stay after class, in the back, out of the way, doing accessory work, extra programming and mobility work. Disciplined, consistent and just a solid, hard worker.
She was always reading and always open to lessons from the greats; ranging from simple
life lessons with Coehlo to leadership lessons with Jocko. When you needed a book recommendation … she was your girl.
She put in all the work, yet, if you were lucky enough to call her friend, she would convince you that you were actually her hero.
She had this ability to make you feel you were special to her. She would send you the best texts, seemingly out of nowhere or she’d go out of her way to give you a quick goodbye even though Irish goodbyes at events were her thing.
She loved donuts and Lemonades Girl Scout cookies! One of my favorite memories is when she got back from deployment, we went bakery-hopping.
We must have hit 10 different bakeries in El Paso in one day then worked out. A good donut and a horrible workout made her so happy!
She did have something that made her happier than talking donuts and workouts. She absolutely lit up talking about her daughter, pups and her husband. She had so many accomplishments as a soldier and athlete, but the only thing you would hear her brag about were her daughter and husband.
I waiver between absolute sadness and feelings of gratitude. I got to spend time with her recently. I am so thankful for that. I got one last time to hear the latest about her daughter and husband and what food she was most excited about currently (it was not donuts but cheese!?!)
She was just so happy.
For everyone that did know her; I’m so very sorry. I know it already feels so painful without her. I hope you have a great text, picture or memory. ♥️

We got to know her in different settings; I as her hairstylist over the last 5 years, and I absolutely got to know her just the way you did! She was genuine, and when she spoke one could feel her passion for life. Our time was always spent talking about motherhood, faith, leadership, workouts, mental toughness, discipline, self-love and self-care and the importance in prioritizing it all! She loved her daughter and her husband and her pups! I never heard her speak ill of anyone. I can still hear her little chuckle. I can see her beautiful hazel/green eyes. She may no longer be with us, but she will forever leave a legacy. She was a true authentic and humble leader. One of the last photos I saw of her at her winter military ball—she was shinning like the true honorable and lovely woman she was! That’s how I will always remember her.
