When I envisioned opening this gym, I did so with deeply rooted core values and certain principles that I wanted forming it. We speak of them often. One that we don’t speak of often though is the current big one. I, and this facility, do not and will never condone racism and the evil that follows. I’ve worked to try and make this gym a light. My Grandpa was discriminated against his entire life. He was dark-complected and I remember my mom telling me how he was mistreated like a black man. I’m a person of color. That’s weird to say… mostly because my parents always taught us to accept everyone. Those were our core values because we are all God’s children. CrossFit is not one person or a Brand name. CrossFit is the community… locally and globally. We ARE the inclusive community that welcomes all colors and genders, shapes and sizes. When I look up at the banner that you signed from our one year anniversary party, I think of that evening. I walked in and saw our wonderful community and gym family. I wasn’t thinking about Greg Glassman. Every time I look at it I will always think of you guys. This is the Golden Rule we were taught as kids: Simply treat people like you would like to be treated and respect others. All men are created equals means no one is better or lesser than anyone else.
